"My drug may be toxic to mitochondria . . . now what?"

High-content screens can identify general inhibition of mitochondrial function, but they do not provide detailed information about the specific mechanisms of toxic action, nor do they identify the exact sites of inhibition. MitoTox™ assays provide this detailed quantitative data that are essential for establishing compound safety, for use as biomarkers in animal studies and clinical trials, or as data for structure-activity relationship models in drug (re)design.

To learn more about mitochondrial toxicity, and about what should be measured and how the data should be interpreted, please begin by reading the Overview.
